There’s always something new popping into the world of design and I usually only dive into that something when needs be. Well needs now be and CMS is the new pop up window.
I am of course years behind. I have been dipping my toes when clients require it but I am not a coder. There are designers and there are coders, rarely do the two meet in one person. I know my fair share of CSS and HTML – I know Dreamweaver, Contribute and I can design in Flash but generating php from scratch does not jingle my jangle. Don’t even mention ASP.
Implementing CMS has been a costly business in the past – but no more. There are companies who employ both designers and coders but they have overheads – and we know what that translates into. Now with the advent of outsourcing to far off regions we can accomplish anything at a fraction of the cost.
Bespoke CMS solutions are one way, design your site and send it to India, problem solved. I confess, it’s often not quite as simple as that, you have to manage outsources and so it’s useful to have a degree of background knowledge.
Another is the open source world of WordPress within which I am currently swimming. This site is the product of that exploration – let’s see how it goes…

Nice one.
Your photographs have bowled me over. It shows that you have a great eye for detail and for thinking outside the box. My son-in-law, Darragh Curran would understand all of the computer info. He’s developing http://www.igopeople.com. Have a look at it. You’d have loads in common. All the best. Trish
