Web Content Management System Showdown

Interesting story at CMSwire.com. In an Iron Chef-like match-up, a team of developers from Drupal, Joomla! and WordPress had 100 hours to build a website based on a specific list of specifications and design.pdf. Then representatives of each team got to meet face to face to show off their hard work during the South by Southwest Interactive festival in a session called "The Ultimate Showdown of Content Management System Destiny."

Although the sites are fairly dull here they are:

• Drupal Showdown Site
• Joomla! Showdown Site
• WordPress Showdown Site

Seems that they agreed to call it a draw. The winner being Open Source software.

   What a cool event. It's too bad there weren't live demos but according to the stats, it actually looks like Joomla won.
   I was really expecting that "bloated"-ness everyone talks about Joomla having to reflect in it's filesize, but it had the smallest. Same with time-spent and custom PHP/JS.
   Really impressive.

   I think it's safe to say now that WordPress isn't the CMS it's cracked up to be. It takes a lot of work to get it there apparently.
